Cambodian-Thai border conflict
Terrorism is the use of violence, especially murder and bombing, in order to achieve political aims or to force a government to do something. People want to become terrorist by reason of their religious convictions, their attitude to political system, to politician. It’s important for them to change their and human’s life, and they don’t suffer about aftermath. It led to unfortunate results. And we know a lot of horrible results of their activity.
There are different sorts of terrorism: nationalist, religious, anti-state, state-sponsored, left-wing, right-wing.
Nationalist terrorists seek to form a separate state for their own national group, often by drawing attention to a fight for “national liberation” that they think the world has ignored. This sort of terrorism has been among the most successful at winning international sympathy and concessions. Nationalist terrorism can be difficult to define, since many groups accused of the practice insist that they are not terrorists but freedom fighters.
^ seek to bring about sweeping changes. Religious terrorists come from many major faiths, as well as from small cults. This type of terrorism is growing swiftly, in 1995, nearly half of the 56 known, active international terrorist groups were religiously motivated. The most extreme religious terrorists can sanction “almost limitless violence against anyone who is not a member of the terrorists’ religion or religious sect.”
^ groups are used by radical states as foreign policy tools and a cost-effective way of waging war covertly. One important early case was the Iranian government’s use of supposedly independent young militants to seize hostages at the American embassy in Tehran in 1979. With enhanced resources at their disposal, state-sponsored terrorist groups are often capable of carrying out more deadly attacks than other terrorists, including airplane bombings.
^ are out to destroy capitalism and replace it with a communist or socialist regime. Because they see most civilians as suffering from capitalist exploitation, left-wing terrorists sometimes have limited their use of violence to avoid victims. Left-wing terrorists sometimes focus on such tactics as kidnapping tycoons or bombing monuments.
United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973, adopted unanimously on September 28, 2001, is a counter-terrorism measure passed following the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States. The resolution was adopted under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, and is therefore binding on all UN member states. It marks a shift in international law, as the latter was presumed to be valid only if the concerned state had voluntarily signed the international treaty; whereas here the Security Council imposed the resolution on all member states.
Security. The threat of terrorism obliges us to devote more resources to physical security. But terrorists can attack anything, anywhere, any time while we have lack of resources to protect everything, everywhere and all the time. There will always be vulnerabilities as all public places are difficult to defend.
Despite intelligence efforts and security, attacks may still occur — anywhere, which is why governments must have effective response measures. These comprise many things: specialized units to deal with hostage situations, preventing the kind of chaotic massacre witnessed in Beslan; technical teams; emergency medical personnel; plans to deal with rescue, evacuation, decontamination, or quarantine.
That can be achieved by actively involving the public. People cannot be permitted to be passive observers. Frightening the public with warnings but no specific instructions only increases anxiety. People can be instructed about how they are targets of terror's psychological effects. They can be informed to imagine risks.
The ultimate protection against terrorism depends on the individual and collective courage of the entire population. We may have to live with terrorism, but we do not have to live in terror.
^ - a series of clashes that began in 2008 and continues to this day on the Thai-Cambodian border. The conflict broke out between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand due to age-old dispute over the area near Preah Vihear temple complex.
In 1904, the Commission held a special border between Thailand (then Siam) and French Indochina, in Preah Vihear result was in Siam, but after compiling more accurate maps of the temple complex was assigned to the territory of Cambodia . After the departure of the French colonialists, Thailand in 1954, occupied the temple complex . After lengthy considerations of June 15, 1962 International Law Court ruled that the temple belongs to Cambodia , but this did not lead to conflict resolution.
In 2007 the two governments agreed that Cambodia will apply for the inclusion of the temple complex a World Heritage Site by UNESCO with the support of Thailand, but the latter soon withdrew its application . Despite this, the July 7, 2008 Preah Vihear UNESCO included the World Heritage List as an object in the territory of Cambodia.
Now the dispute has spread to Ta Moan temple complex Thom, that between the provinces of Surin and Oddarmeantey. In addition, historians, and scientists expect that this conflict will spread to the temple complex SROC Like Tom, now located within the city Aranyaprathet Province sake, Thailand.
